Holler Driver's Mart Honors the Health Care Innovators  of Seminole State College

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 2, 2012) -- Professors and leaders at Seminole State College's Nursing Program are preparing future heroes to provide critical care in the health care field. In recognition of these educators who teach these vital skills, the Nursing Program was honored March 29 as a Holler Driver's Mart Hero.
Innovation is key to education at SSC. Indeed, its Nursing Program received the 2011 Florida Chancellor's Best Practice Award for its use of patient simulation and advanced lab techniques to train nurses. These simulation tools not only better prepares future nurses to pass the state licensing exam, but to properly and efficiently treat patients in health care facilities. Representing the program during Orlando Predators College Night were instructors Carlos Ovalle (from left, above), Laura Aromando and Maureen Tremel, and president of the Student Nurse Association, Cathy Centurion (in pink shirt).

Saving Toddler Earns Local FDOT Officer
Recognition as Holler Driver's Mart Hero

WINTER PARK (June 23, 2011) -- John Csanyi didn't expect all his years of training to be put to use while attending a children's sporting event with his sons. But that's exactly what happened on a recent Saturday and the reason the Florida Department of Transportation police officer was recognized as a Holler Driver's Mart Hero June 11 during the Orlando Predators game.  It was because of Csanyi's experience and quick actions that a 2-year-old boy's life was saved. Csanyi, a six-year veteran of FDOT, resuscitated the toddler and alerted others to call 911 after finding the child unresponsive and unattended at the event.
